What are the minimum financial requirements?
Due to the capital-intensive nature of this business, Dollar requires a net worth of $500,000 or higher and liquid capital of $150,000 or higher. The actual amounts vary according to the specific location, size of the market, the size of your rental fleet and the number of locations. This sum does not represent the total investment to open and operate the franchise business.
How much time do I have to invest in a Dollar franchise?
This is not an absentee business. You must be committed to devote your full-time energies to this venture.
How long is the approval process?
Normally, it takes 60 to 90 days to go through the approval process and complete the legal documentation. This process can move quicker if application and all supporting documents are returned in a complete and timely manner.
Is there territory protection?
As a franchisee, you are given exclusive rights to operate a Dollar franchise within your territory during the term of the license agreement.
What is the term of the license? Is it renewable?
The term of the license agreement is ten years with an option for a new agreement at the end of the term.
What is the initial investment?
Our minimum franchise fee is $20,000 - This price may differ based on market size and where the territory is in relationship to an airport. The total investment varies, depending on fleet requirements and the cost of doing business at or near the airport.
What does the monthly royalty provide?
Royalties sustain the value-added benefits of Dollar branding. This includes supporting and promoting the brand name plus providing franchise owner support.
How do I obtain cars for my rental fleet?
Our franchisees obtain vehicles from a variety of sources including auctions, wholesalers, local dealers, fleet leasing companies and the DTG Fleet Remarketing department.
Are there make and model restrictions to the vehicles I will rent out?
No. You may use any passenger vehicle you would like. However, the vehicle can be no more than two model years old and cannot have more than 40,000 miles.
What kind of training can I expect?
You will be required to attend a new car rental franchisee orientation at Dollar's worldwide headquarters in Tulsa, OK. After that, a representative from Franchise Operations will complete on-site training at your location around the time that you open for business.
